This is a very colourful painting of a fortune teller who is waiting, with her crystal ball, for a client to drop in and discover his/her fate. There appears to be a chair to the left of the painting, and it possibly is occupied. The fortune teller is surrounded by wares for sale.
The canvas has been roughly broken into thirds, and the main subject has been placed just off centre. Her white crystal ball is in direct colour contrast to the black wall. Simultaneous contrast has been achieved by the use of both reddish and green colours, and they interact favourably. Touches of yellow add energy to the painting, and are highlighted by the dark background that adds mystery. It sets the scene beautifully. What happens behind that wall?
A black cat painting in the bottom right half of the canvas, adds a necessary superstitious touch.
Acrylic on Masonite, date unknown. (Cleaned and framed.)
Very interesting
