The painting of Prin, a black cat, is a favourite among the artist’s friends.
Prin, a proud cat has a commanding stance. The cat has been placed left of centre and her tail goes to the bottom edge of the frame, thus exaggerating its length.
The yellow colour of the well textured cupboard reflects in her eyes. Her smooth shape is further highlighted by the smoothly blended, grey background. The dappled orange-red pot holding the tree, and the yellow-green ivy, also add interest to the painting. Bright yellow paint adds energy. The soft blue in the top section of the painting is in contrast to the bright foreground where the ivy leaves cast small shadows.
The artist used a controlled hand when painting Prin, and proud Prin enjoyed getting all the attention.
