In this unusual, textured painting, the viewer’s eye is led to the centre of the canvas, where a skydiver has just commenced his dive.
The interesting cockpit of the plane shows the control panel and joystick. The pilot is turning the plane in a swift, left manoeuvre. The artist has used parallel, curved lines to indicate the movement of the plane as it does the tight turn. The yellow circle on the control panel is placed on one ‘eye’ of the canvas, and it is surrounded by several other strong colours.
The scene is well balanced, and the green and red colours accentuate each other, attract the viewer’s attention and add strength and interest to the painting. The artist rarely uses black in his work, but has done so in this painting to emphasize the joystick.
There is an exciting mood to this painting.
