Tower’s Place – Beaudesert (27 x 22 cm)

This small, yet interesting painting of a friends’ place, appears unfinished, though the techniques used by Andre Derain and Henri Matisse, founders of the Fauvism Movement, are evident.

The blue and green colours are harmonious, and give a sense of freshness. The colour of the sky is in contrast to the dark blue hills, and it appears as if a shower of rain has passed.

Attention was paid to detail, and cattle are shown grazing. They are restrained by a metal gate. A red roofed building is placed centrally, and trees frame the painting.

Acrylic on Masonite, date unknown. (Cleaned and framed.)
